Explanation
As-Salam means the Source and Embodiment of Peace — not just one who grants peace, but One whose very essence IS peace. The greeting of the people of Jannah will be "Salam" (36:58), showing that ultimate peace is inseparable from Allah. Every Muslim salah ends with Assalamu Alaikum — a salutation that channels the divine peace of As-Salam.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting "Ya Salam" 160 times over a sick person has been narrated by Islamic scholars as beneficial for recovery. After each obligatory prayer, the sunnah is to say "Allahumma Anta as-Salam wa minka as-Salam — O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace."
