Al-Qahhar
"The Subduer"
Explanation
Al-Qahhar means the All-Subduing — the One who completely dominates and overpowers all things. Nothing in creation resists Allah's qahr (overpowering). Prophet Yusuf (AS) used this name while in prison to argue for tawheed: why worship multiple powerless gods when Al-Qahhar, the single All-Subduing God, exists? Al-Qahhar subjugates desires, tyrants, enemies, and worldly distractions — all bow before His qahr.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting "Ya Qahhar" 100 times helps overcome worldly attachments — the love of dunya that distracts from the akhirah. It is the name called upon to subdue harmful desires and break the grip of addiction. Allah's qahr will defeat every force that opposes truth — this is the comfort of those who are oppressed.
