Explanation
Al-Awwal is the First, the One whose existence has no beginning. Before there was time, space, or creation, there was Allah. Everything else in existence was preceded by non-existence, except Al-Awwal. Because He is the First, He is the original cause of all things, the Provider of all blessings, and the One to whom all primary devotion is due.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet ﷺ explained this name saying: "O Allah, You are the First, there is nothing before You..." (Muslim). Reciting "Ya Awwal" helps one start new endeavors with success, and reminds the heart that Allah must be the first priority in life.
