Explanation
Al-Batin is the Hidden, the Intimate, the One who cannot be perceived by the physical senses. While Az-Zahir means His existence is obvious through His creation, Al-Batin means His essence is veiled from human sight in this world. It also means He is the Intimate One who knows the deepest, most hidden secrets of the heart. "There is nothing nearer to you than Him."
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting "Ya Batin" is historically practiced to purify the heart from hidden diseases like envy and showing off (riya'). It helps the believer develop sincerity (ikhlas), knowing that Al-Batin sees what no one else sees.

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
