Explanation

Al-Hafiz is the Preserver, the Protector, the Guardian. He preserves the heavens and the earth from collapsing. He preserves the Quran from alteration. He preserves the records of our deeds perfectly. Most beautifully, He preserves and protects the believer from harm, from straying, and from the whispers of Shaytan. When you entrust something to Al-Hafiz, it is never lost.

Reciting Ayatul Kursi brings the protection of Al-Hafiz over a home or person. Saying "Ya Hafiz" 99 times before traveling or in times of danger serves as a spiritual shield. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Be mindful of Allah, and He will protect (hifdh) you."

"Indeed, my Lord is, over all things, Guardian (Preserver)." - Surah Hud (11:57)

Think of the person or thing you are most terrified of losing. Say: "O Allah, I entrust them to You, for You do not lose what is entrusted to You." Recite "Ya Hafiz" 33 times, feeling the anxiety of hyper-vigilance leave your body as you hand the protection over to Him.
