Explanation
Al-Halim is the Forbearing, the Clement, the One who delays punishment. Despite His immense power and full knowledge of our sins, Al-Halim does not rush to punish. He gives respite, allowing time for repentance. If Allah punished us immediately for every wrong, "He would not leave upon the earth any creature" (35:45). Hilm is the beautiful patience of the powerful who chooses mercy over immediate retribution.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting "Ya Halim" cools anger and brings tranquility. The Prophet ﷺ praised a companion saying, "You possess two qualities beloved to Allah: Hilm (forbearance) and deliberation." Connecting with Al-Halim makes a person less reactive and more forgiving.
