Explanation
Al-Quddus means the Absolutely Pure — free from every deficiency, fault, partner, or imperfection. All of creation glorifies this purity (tasbih). When the angels said to Allah about creating Adam, they said "wa nahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wa nuqaddisu lak" — "we glorify Your praise and sanctify You." The word "nuqaddisu" comes from Quddus. This name reminds us that everything attributed to Allah must be absolutely free of any human limitation.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting "Subboohun Quddoosun Rabbul Malaa'ikati war-Rooh" — which the Prophet ﷺ used in ruku and sujood — connects you to the angels' glorification. Reciting "Ya Quddus" 100 times daily is said to cleanse the heart of jealousy, pride, and spiritual pollution.
