Editorial Policy & Content Standards
Current Islamic Date publishes religious content that people rely on for worship and daily practice. Because that responsibility is serious, this page explains exactly how our content is sourced, written, verified, and corrected.
Our Guiding Principle
Every article, dua, hadith, and reference on Current Islamic Date is built on the two primary sources of Islamic knowledge: the Holy Quran and the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Where scholarly explanation is needed, we draw on established, widely-accepted works rather than personal opinion, and we cite the source so readers can verify it themselves.
Sources We Rely On
- Quranic text & translations: The Arabic text follows the standard Uthmani script, presented alongside established English and Urdu translations.
- Hadith: Narrations are drawn from the six canonical Sunni collections — Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa'i, and Sunan Ibn Majah — with the collection, book, and narrator cited for each hadith.
- Duas & Azkar: Supplications are provided with their Arabic text, translation, and — wherever applicable — the hadith reference they originate from.
- Prayer times & Hijri dates: Computed using internationally recognized astronomical calculation methods (see our Methodology & Sources page).
Translations & Interpretation
Translation is interpretation, and no translation can fully capture the original Arabic. For this reason we present the original Arabic alongside every translation, and we avoid presenting a single translation as the only valid meaning. Explanatory notes are clearly separated from the sacred text itself.
Accuracy & Verification
Content is cross-checked against the primary sources before publication. Prayer-time and calendar calculations are generated programmatically from recognized methods rather than entered by hand, which removes a common source of human error. We continue to review published pages and update them as needed.
We are transparent about our limits. Current Islamic Date is an educational resource, not a substitute for a qualified scholar (mufti). For personal rulings (fatwa) on matters specific to your situation, we encourage you to consult a trusted local scholar.
Use of Technology
We use software to compute prayer times, convert Hijri dates, and organize large collections of authentic source material. Where technology assists in drafting explanatory content, that content is reviewed against the primary sources before it is published. Sacred text — the Quran and hadith narrations — is never altered or paraphrased.
Non-Sectarian Commitment
Current Islamic Date serves the whole Muslim ummah. We focus on the shared, mainstream body of Islamic knowledge and avoid promoting sectarian disputes. Where legitimate differences of scholarly opinion exist, we aim to note them rather than present one view as the only one.
