📖 About Dhu al-Hijjah (ذوالحجہ)

Dhu al-Hijjah is the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar, one of the four sacred months, and the month of Hajj pilgrimage. The name means "the one of pilgrimage." The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are the most blessed days of the entire year. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." Muslims are encouraged to fast, especially on the 9th (Day of Arafah) which expiates the sins of the previous and coming year. Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, takes place from the 8th to the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah. Over 2 million Muslims gather in Makkah annually for this sacred pilgrimage. The Day of Arafah (9th) is the most important day of Hajj when pilgrims stand in supplication at Mount Arafah. Eid ul-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) is celebrated on the 10th, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) in obedience to Allah. Muslims sacrifice animals (Qurbani) and distribute the meat among family, friends, and the poor.
