Overview
Iman (Faith) is the foundation of Islamic belief, encompassing belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree. The Prophet ﷺ defined Iman through the famous Hadith of Jibreel as believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and predestination. Authentic hadiths reveal that Iman has over sixty branches, with the highest being the testimony of faith and the lowest being removing harm from the road.
Key Lessons
Faith is not static — it increases with obedience and decreases with sin. A believer must continually renew and strengthen their Iman through dhikr, knowledge, and righteous deeds. The concept of Iman also encompasses action of the heart, tongue, and limbs.
Practical Guidance
Strengthen your faith by learning the six pillars of Iman deeply, attending Islamic circles, reading Quran daily, and making dua for firm faith (thabaat). Recite "Allahumma thabbit qalbi ala dinik" regularly. Avoid sins that weaken faith and seek repentance immediately.

Narrated Ibn Shihab:If somebody bought fruits before their benefit is evident and then the fruits were spoiled with blights, the loss would be suffered by the owner (not the buyer). Narrated Salim bin 'Abdullah from Ibn Umar: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Do not sell or buy fruits before their benefit was evident and do not sell fresh fruits (dates) for dried dates
لیث نے کہا کہ مجھے سے یونس نے بیان کیا انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ابن شہاب نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ایک شخص نے اگر پختہ ہونے سے پہلے ہی ( درخت پر ) پھل خریدے، پھر ان پر کوئی آفت آ گئی تو جتنا نقصان ہوا، وہ سب اصل مالک کو بھرنا پڑے گا۔ مجھے سالم بن عبداللہ نے خبر دی، اور انہیں عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، پختہ ہونے سے پہلے پھلوں کو نہ بیچو، اور نہ درخت پر لگی ہوئی کھجور کو ٹوٹی ہوئی کھجور کے بدلے میں بیچو۔
Narrated `Aisha:The Prophet (ﷺ) bought some foodstuff from a Jew on credit and mortgaged his armor to him
ہم سے عمرو بن حفص بن غیاث نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے باپ نے بیان کیا، ان سے اعمش نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم نے ابراہیم کے سامنے قرض میں گروی رکھنے کا ذکر کیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ اس میں کوئی حرج نہیں ہے۔ پھر ہم سے اسود کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا کہ ان سے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مقررہ مدت کے قرض پر ایک یہودی سے غلہ خریدا اور اپنی زرہ اس کے یہاں گروی رکھی تھی۔
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) appointed somebody as a governor of Khaibar. That governor brought to him an excellent kind of dates (from Khaibar). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Are all the dates of Khaibar like this?" He replied, "By Allah, no, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! But we barter one Sa of this (type of dates) for two Sas of dates of ours and two Sas of it for three of ours." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Do not do so (as that is a kind of usury) but sell the mixed dates (of inferior quality) for money, and then buy good dates with that money

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If somebody sells pollinated date palms, the fruits will be for the seller unless the buyer stipulates that they will be for himself (and the seller agrees)
ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم کو امام مالک نے خبر دی، انہیں نافع نے، انہیں عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا اگر کسی نے کھجور کے ایسے درخت بیچے ہوں جن کو پیوندی کیا جا چکا تھا تو اس کا پھل بیچنے والے ہی کا رہتا ہے۔ البتہ اگر خریدنے والے نے شرط لگا دی ہو۔ ( کہ پھل سمیت سودا ہو رہا ہے تو پھل بھی خریدار کی ملکیت میں آ جائیں گے ) ۔
Narrated Ibn `Umar:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade Al-Muzabana, i.e. to sell ungathered dates of one's garden for measured dried dates or fresh ungathered grapes for measured dried grapes; or standing crops for measured quantity of foodstuff. He forbade all such bargains
ہم سے قتیبہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے لیث نے بیان کیا، ان سے نافع نے، ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا، کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مزابنہ سے منع فرمایا۔ یعنی باغ کے پھلوں کو اگر وہ کھجور ہیں تو ٹوٹی ہوئی کھجور کے بدلے میں ناپ کر بیچا جائے۔ اور اگر انگور ہیں تو اسے خشک انگور کے بدلے ناپ کر بیچا جائے اور اگر وہ کھیتی ہے تو ناپ کر غلہ کے بدلے میں بیچا جائے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان تمام قسموں کے لین دین سے منع فرمایا ہے۔
Narrated Ibn `Umar:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever pollinates date palms and then sells them, the fruits will belong to him unless the buyer stipulates that the fruits should belong to him (and the seller agrees)
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے لیث نے بیان کیا، ان سے نافع نے، اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا جس شخص نے بھی کسی کھجور کے درخت کو پیوندی بنایا۔ پھر اس درخت ہی کو بیچ دیا تو ( اس موسم کا پھل ) اسی کا ہو گا جس نے پیوندی کیا ہے، لیکن اگر خریدار نے پھلوں کی بھی شرط لگا دی ہے ( تو یہ امر دیگر ہے ) ۔

ہم سے اسحاق بن وہب نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے عمر بن یونس نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے باپ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھ سے اسحاق بن ابی طلحہ انصاری نے بیان کیا اور ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے محاقلہ، مخاضرہ، ملامسہ، منابذہ اور مزابنہ سے منع فرمایا ہے۔
Narrated Humaid:Anas said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the selling of dates till they were almost ripe." We asked Anas, "What does 'almost ripe' mean?" He replied, "They get red and yellow. The Prophet (ﷺ) added, 'If Allah destroyed the fruits present on the trees, what right would the seller have to take the money of his brother (somebody else)?
ہم سے قتیبہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے اسماعیل بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، ان سے حمید نے اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے درخت کو «زهو.» سے پہلے ٹوٹی ہوئی کھجور کے بدلے بیچنے سے منع فرمایا۔ ہم نے پوچھا کہ «زهو.» کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ وہ پک کے سرخ ہو جائے یا زرد ہو جائے۔ تم ہی بتاؤ کہ اگر اللہ کے حکم سے پھل نہ آ سکا تو تم کس چیز کے بدلے میں اپنے بھائی ( خریدار ) کا مال اپنے لیے حلال کرو گے۔
Narrated Ibn `Umar:I was with the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was eating fresh dates. He said, "From the trees there is a tree which resembles a faithful believer." I wanted to say that it was the date palm, but I was the youngest among them (so I kept quiet). He added, "It is the date palm
ہم سے ابوالولید ہشام بن عبدالملک سے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ابوعوانہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوبشر نے، ان سے مجاہد نے، اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر تھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھجور کا گابھا کھا رہے تھے۔ اسی وقت آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ درختوں میں ایک درخت مرد مومن کی مثال ہے میرے دل میں آیا کہ کہوں کہ یہ کھجور کا درخت ہے، لیکن حاضرین میں، میں ہی سب سے چھوٹی عمر کا تھا ( اس لیے بطور ادب میں چپ رہا ) پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے خود ہی فرمایا کہ وہ کھجور کا درخت ہے۔
