Overview
Iman (Faith) is the foundation of Islamic belief, encompassing belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree. The Prophet ﷺ defined Iman through the famous Hadith of Jibreel as believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and predestination. Authentic hadiths reveal that Iman has over sixty branches, with the highest being the testimony of faith and the lowest being removing harm from the road.
Key Lessons
Faith is not static — it increases with obedience and decreases with sin. A believer must continually renew and strengthen their Iman through dhikr, knowledge, and righteous deeds. The concept of Iman also encompasses action of the heart, tongue, and limbs.
Practical Guidance
Strengthen your faith by learning the six pillars of Iman deeply, attending Islamic circles, reading Quran daily, and making dua for firm faith (thabaat). Recite "Allahumma thabbit qalbi ala dinik" regularly. Avoid sins that weaken faith and seek repentance immediately.

Narrated Abu Salih Az-Zaiyat:I heard Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri saying, "The selling of a Dinar for a Dinar, and a Dirham for a Dirham (is permissible)." I said to him, "Ibn `Abbas does not say the same." Abu Sa`id replied, "I asked Ibn `Abbas whether he had heard it from the Prophet (ﷺ) or seen it in the Holy Book. Ibn `Abbas replied, "I do not claim that, and you know Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) better than I, but Usama informed me that the Prophet had said, 'There is no Riba (in money exchange) except when it is not done from hand to hand (i.e. when there is delay in payment)
Narrated Abu Al-Minhal:I asked Al-Bara' bin `Azib and Zaid bin Arqam about money exchanges. Each of them said, "This is better than I," and both of them said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade the selling of silver for gold on credit

ہم سے عمران بن میسرہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے عباد بن عوام نے، کہا کہ ہم کو یحییٰ بن ابی اسحٰق نے خبر دی، ان سے عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی بکرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا، اور ان سے ان کے باپ ابوبکرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چاندی، چاندی کے بدلے میں اور سونا سونے کے بدلے میں بیچنے سے منع فرمایا ہے۔ مگر یہ کہ برابر برابر ہو۔ البتہ سونا چاندی کے بدلے میں جس طرح چاہیں خریدیں۔ اسی طرح چاندی سونے کے بدلے جس طرح چاہیں خریدیں۔
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Do not sell fruits of dates until they become free from all the dangers of being spoilt or blighted; and do not sell fresh dates for dry dates." Narrated Salim and `Abdullah from Zaid bin Thabit: "Later on Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) permitted the selling of ripe fruits on trees for fresh dates or dried dates in Bai'-al-'Araya, and did not allow it for any other kind of sale

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم کو امام مالک نے خبر دی، انہیں نافع نے، انہیں عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مزابنہ سے منع فرمایا، مزابنہ درخت پر لگی ہوئی کھجور کو ٹوٹی ہوئی کھجور کے بدلے ناپ کر اور درخت کے انگور کو خشک انگور کے بدلے میں ناپ کر بیچنے کو کہتے ہیں۔

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم کو امام مالک نے خبر دی، انہیں داؤد بن حصین نے، انہیں ابن ابی احمد کے غلام ابوسفیان نے اور انہیں ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مزابنہ اور محاقلہ سے منع فرمایا، مزابنہ درخت پر لگی کھجور، توڑی ہوئی کھجور کے بدلے میں خریدنے کو کہتے ہیں۔

ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے معاویہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے شیبانی نے، ان سے عکرمہ نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے محاقلہ اور مزابنہ سے منع فرمایا۔
Narrated Zaid bin Thabit:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) allowed the owner of 'Araya to sell the fruits on the trees by means of estimation
ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے امام مالک نے بیان کیا، ان سے نافع نے، ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صاحب عریہ کو اس کی اجازت دی کہ اپنا عریہ اس کے اندازے برابر میوے کے بدل بیچ ڈالے۔
