Overview
Iman (Faith) is the foundation of Islamic belief, encompassing belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree. The Prophet ﷺ defined Iman through the famous Hadith of Jibreel as believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and predestination. Authentic hadiths reveal that Iman has over sixty branches, with the highest being the testimony of faith and the lowest being removing harm from the road.
Key Lessons
Faith is not static — it increases with obedience and decreases with sin. A believer must continually renew and strengthen their Iman through dhikr, knowledge, and righteous deeds. The concept of Iman also encompasses action of the heart, tongue, and limbs.
Practical Guidance
Strengthen your faith by learning the six pillars of Iman deeply, attending Islamic circles, reading Quran daily, and making dua for firm faith (thabaat). Recite "Allahumma thabbit qalbi ala dinik" regularly. Avoid sins that weaken faith and seek repentance immediately.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I have been ordered to prostrate on seven (bones) and not to tuck up the hair or garment
ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ابوعوانہ وضاح نے، عمرو بن دینار سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے طاؤس سے، انہوں نے ابن عباس سے، انہوں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا مجھے سات ہڈیوں پر اس طرح سجدہ کا حکم ہوا ہے کہ نہ بال سمیٹوں اور نہ کپڑے۔
Narrated `Aisha:The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say frequently in his bowing and prostrations "Subhanaka l-lahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika, Allahumma ghfir li" (Exalted [from unbecoming attributes] Are you O Allah our Lord, and by Your praise [do I exalt you]. O Allah! Forgive me). In this way [??] he was acting on what was explained to him in the Holy Qur'an
ہم سے مسدد بن مسرہد نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے یحییٰ بن سعید قطان نے، سفیان ثوری سے، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھ سے منصور بن معتمر نے مسلم بن صبیح سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے مسروق سے، ان سے عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے فرمایا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سجدہ اور رکوع میں اکثر یہ پڑھا کرتے تھے۔ «سبحانك اللهم ربنا وبحمدك، اللهم اغفر لي» ( اس دعا کو پڑھ کر ) آپ قرآن کے حکم پر عمل کرتے تھے۔
Narrated Abu Qilaba:Once Malik bin Huwairith said to his friends, "Shall I show you how Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to offer his prayers?" And it was not the time for any of the compulsory congregational prayers. So he stood up (for the prayer) bowed and said the Takbir, then he raised his head and remained standing for a while and then prostrated and raised his head for a while (sat up for a while). He prayed like our Sheikh `Amr Ibn Salama. (Aiyub said, "The latter used to do a thing which I did not see the people doing i.e. he used to sit between the third and the fourth rak`a). Malik bin Huwairith said, "We came to the Prophet (after embracing Islam) and stayed with him. He said to us, 'When you go back to your families, pray such and such a prayer at such and such a time, pray such and such a prayer at such and such a time, and when there is the time for the prayer then only of you should pronounce the Adhan for the prayer and the oldest of you should lead the prayer

Narrated Al-Bara':The time taken by the Prophet (ﷺ) in prostrations, bowing, and the sitting interval between the two prostrations was about the same
ہم سے محمد بن عبدالرحیم صاعقہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ابواحمد محمد بن عبداللہ زبیری نے کہا کہ ہم سے مسعر بن کدام نے حکم عتیبہ کوفی سے انہوں نے عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی لیلیٰ سے انہوں نے براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ سے انہوں نے کہا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا سجدہ، رکوع اور دونوں سجدوں کے درمیان بیٹھنے کی مقدار تقریباً برابر ہوتی تھی۔
Narrated Thabit:Anas said, "I will leave no stone unturned in making you offer the prayer as I have seen the Prophet (ﷺ) making us offer it." Anas used to do a thing which I have not seen you doing. He used to stand after the bowing for such a long time that one would think that he had forgotten (the prostrations) and he used to sit in-between the prostrations so long that one would think that he had forgotten the second prostration
ہم سے سلیمان بن حرب نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے حماد بن زید نے ثابت سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے، انہوں نے فرمایا کہ میں نے جس طرح نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو نماز پڑھتے دیکھا تھا بالکل اسی طرح تم لوگوں کو نماز پڑھانے میں کسی قسم کی کوئی کمی نہیں چھوڑتا ہوں۔ ثابت نے بیان کیا کہ انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ ایک ایسا عمل کرتے تھے جسے میں تمہیں کرتے نہیں دیکھتا۔ جب وہ رکوع سے سر اٹھاتے تو اتنی دیر تک کھڑے رہتے کہ دیکھنے والا سمجھتا کہ بھول گئے ہیں اور اسی طرح دونوں سجدوں کے درمیان اتنی دیر تک بیٹھتے رہتے کہ دیکھنے والا سمجھتا کہ بھول گئے ہیں۔
Narrated Anas bin Malik:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Be straight in the prostrations and none of you should put his forearms on the ground (in the prostration) like a dog
ہم سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے محمد بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے قتادہ سے سنا، انہوں نے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ سجدہ میں اعتدال کو ملحوظ رکھو اور اپنے بازو کتوں کی طرح نہ پھیلایا کرو۔
Narrated Malik bin Huwairith Al-Laithi:I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) praying and in the odd rak`at, he used to sit for a moment before getting up
ہم سے محمد بن صباح نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں ہشیم نے خبر دی، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں خالد حذاء نے خبر دی، ابوقلابہ سے، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ مجھے مالک بن حویرث لیثی رضی اللہ عنہ نے خبر دی کہ آپ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو نماز پڑھتے دیکھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب طاق رکعت میں ہوتے تو اس وقت تک نہ اٹھتے جب تک تھوڑی دیر بیٹھ نہ لیتے۔
Narrated Aiyub:Abu Qilaba said, "Malik bin Huwairith came to us and led us in the prayer in this mosque of ours and said, 'I lead you in prayer but I do not want to offer the prayer but just to show you how Allah's Apostle performed his prayers." I asked Abu Qilaba, "How was the prayer of Malik bin Huwairith?" He replied, "Like the prayer of this Sheikh of ours-- i.e. `Amr bin Salima." That Sheikh used to pronounce the Takbir perfectly and when he raised his head from the second prostration he would sit for a while and then support himself on the ground and get up
ہم سے معلی بن اسد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے وہیب نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے ایوب سختیانی سے، انہوں نے ابوقلابہ سے، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ مالک بن حویرث رضی اللہ عنہ ہمارے یہاں تشریف لائے اور آپ نے ہماری اس مسجد میں نماز پڑھائی۔ آپ نے فرمایا کہ میں نماز پڑھا رہا ہوں لیکن میری نیت کسی فرض کی ادائیگی نہیں ہے بلکہ میں صرف تم کو یہ دکھانا چاہتا ہوں کہ نبی کریم کس طرح نماز پڑھا کرتے تھے۔ ایوب سختیانی نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے ابوقلابہ سے پوچھا کہ مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کس طرح نماز پڑھتے تھے؟ تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ ہمارے شیخ عمرو بن سلمہ کی طرح۔ ایوب نے بیان کیا کہ شیخ تمام تکبیرات کہتے تھے اور جب دوسرے سجدہ سے سر اٹھاتے تو تھوڑی دیر بیٹھتے اور زمین کا سہارا لے کر پھر اٹھتے۔
Narrated Sa`id bin Al-Harith:Abu Sa`id led us in the prayer and said the Takbir aloud on arising from the prostration, and on prostrating, on rising again, and on getting up from the second rak`a. Abu Sa`id said, "I saw the Prophet doing the same
ہم سے یحییٰ بن صالح نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے فلیج بن سلیمان نے، انہوں نے سعید بن حارث سے، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے نماز پڑھائی اور جب انہوں نے سجدہ سے سر اٹھایا تو پکار کر تکبیر کہی پھر جب سجدہ کیا تو ایسا ہی کیا پھر سجدہ سے سر اٹھایا تو بھی ایسا ہی کیا اسی طرح جب دو رکعتیں پڑھ کر کھڑے ہوئے اس وقت بھی آپ نے بلند آواز سے تکبیر کہی اور فرمایا کہ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اسی طرح کرتے دیکھا۔
