Overview
Iman (Faith) is the foundation of Islamic belief, encompassing belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree. The Prophet ﷺ defined Iman through the famous Hadith of Jibreel as believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and predestination. Authentic hadiths reveal that Iman has over sixty branches, with the highest being the testimony of faith and the lowest being removing harm from the road.
Key Lessons
Faith is not static — it increases with obedience and decreases with sin. A believer must continually renew and strengthen their Iman through dhikr, knowledge, and righteous deeds. The concept of Iman also encompasses action of the heart, tongue, and limbs.
Practical Guidance
Strengthen your faith by learning the six pillars of Iman deeply, attending Islamic circles, reading Quran daily, and making dua for firm faith (thabaat). Recite "Allahumma thabbit qalbi ala dinik" regularly. Avoid sins that weaken faith and seek repentance immediately.

Narrated Anas:Zaid bin Thabit said, "We took the "Suhur" (the meal taken before dawn while fasting is observed) with the Prophet (ﷺ) and then stood up for the (morning) prayer." I asked him how long the interval between the two (Suhur and prayer) was. He replied, 'The interval between the two was just sufficient to recite fifty to sixty 'Ayat
ہم سے عمرو بن عاصم نے یہ حدیث بیان کی، کہا ہم سے ہمام نے یہ حدیث بیان کی قتادہ سے، انہوں نے انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ یزید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے بیان کیا کہ ان لوگوں نے ( ایک مرتبہ ) نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ سحری کھائی، پھر نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہو گئے۔ میں نے دریافت کیا کہ ان دونوں کے درمیان کس قدر فاصلہ رہا ہو گا۔ فرمایا کہ جتنا پچاس یا ساٹھ آیت پڑھنے میں صرف ہوتا ہے اتنا فاصلہ تھا۔
Narrated Qatada:Anas bin Malik said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) and Zaid bin Thabit took the 'Suhur' together and after finishing the meal, the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and prayed (Fajr prayer)." I asked Anas, "How long was the interval between finishing their 'Suhur' and starting the prayer?" He replied, "The interval between the two was just sufficient to recite fifty 'Ayat." ہم سے حسن بن صباح نے یہ حدیث بیان کی، انہوں نے روح بن عبادہ سے سنا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے سعید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے قتادہ سے روایت کیا، انہوں نے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ نے سحری کھائی، پھر جب وہ سحری کھا کر فارغ ہوئے تو نماز کے لیے اٹھے اور نماز پڑھی۔ ہم نے انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کہ آپ کی سحری سے فراغت اور نماز کی ابتداء میں کتنا فاصلہ تھا؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ اتنا کہ ایک شخص پچاس آیتیں پڑھ سکے۔
Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d:I used to take the "Suhur" meal with my family and hasten so as to catch the Fajr (morning prayer) with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
ہم سے اسماعیل بن ابی اویس نے بیان کیا اپنے بھائی عبدالحمید بن ابی اویس سے، انہوں نے سلیمان بن بلال سے، انہوں نے ابی حازم سلمہ بن دینار سے کہ انہوں نے سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ صحابی سے سنا، آپ نے فرمایا کہ میں اپنے گھر سحری کھاتا، پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ نماز فجر پانے کے لیے مجھے جلدی کرنی پڑتی تھی۔
Narrated `Aisha:The believing women covered with their veiling sheets used to attend the Fajr prayer with Allah's Apostle, and after finishing the prayer they would return to their home and nobody could recognize them because of darkness
ہم سے یحییٰ بن بکیر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں لیث نے خبر دی، انہوں نے عقیل بن خالد سے، انہوں نے ابن شہاب سے، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے عروہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ نے خبر دی کہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے انہیں خبر دی کہ مسلمان عورتیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ نماز فجر پڑھنے چادروں میں لپٹ کر آتی تھیں۔ پھر نماز سے فارغ ہو کر جب اپنے گھروں کو واپس ہوتیں تو انہیں اندھیرے کی وجہ سے کوئی شخص پہچان نہیں سکتا تھا۔
Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever could get one rak`a (of the Fajr prayer) before sunrise, he has got the (morning) prayer and whoever could get one rak`a of the `Asr prayer before sunset, he has got the (`Asr) prayer
ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ قعنبی نے بیان کیا امام مالک سے، انہوں نے زید بن اسلم سے، انہوں نے عطاء بن یسار اور بسر بن سعید اور عبدالرحمٰن بن ہرمز اعرج سے، ان تینوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے واسطے سے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جس نے فجر کی ایک رکعت ( جماعت کے ساتھ ) سورج نکلنے سے پہلے پا لی اس نے فجر کی نماز ( باجماعت کا ثواب ) پا لیا۔ اور جس نے عصر کی ایک رکعت ( جماعت کے ساتھ ) سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے پا لی، اس نے عصر کی نماز ( باجماعت کا ثواب ) پا لیا۔
Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever could get one rak`a of a prayer, (in its proper time) he has got the prayer
ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف تنیسی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے امام مالک نے ابن شہاب سے، انہوں نے ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن بن عوف رضی اللہ عنہ سے انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جس نے ایک رکعت نماز ( باجماعت ) پا لی اس نے نماز ( باجماعت کا ثواب ) پا لیا۔
Narrated `Umar:"The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade praying after the Fajr prayer till the sun rises and after the `Asr prayer till the sun sets." Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Some people told me the same narration (as above)
ہم سے حفص بن عمر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ہشام دستوائی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے قتادہ بن دعامہ سے، انہوں نے ابوالعالیہ رفیع سے، انہوں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے فرمایا کہ میرے سامنے چند معتبر حضرات نے گواہی دی، جن میں سب سے زیادہ معتبر میرے نزدیک عمر رضی اللہ عنہ تھے، کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فجر کی نماز کے بعد سورج بلند ہونے تک اور عصر کی نماز کے بعد سورج ڈوبنے تک نماز پڑھنے سے منع فرمایا۔ ہم سے مسدد بن مسرہد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یحییٰ بن سعید قطان نے شعبہ سے، انہوں نے قتادہ سے کہ میں نے ابوالعالیہ سے سنا، وہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے بیان کرتے تھے کہ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ مجھ سے چند لوگوں نے یہ حدیث بیان کی۔ ( جو پہلے ذکر ہوئی ) ۔
Narrated Hisham's father:Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Do not pray at the time of sunrise and at the time of sunset.' " Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'If the edge of the sun appears (above the horizon) delay the prayer till it becomes high, and if the edge of the sun disappears, delay the prayer till it sets (disappears completely)
Narrated Hisham's father:Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Do not pray at the time of sunrise and at the time of sunset.' " Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'If the edge of the sun appears (above the horizon) delay the prayer till it becomes high, and if the edge of the sun disappears, delay the prayer till it sets (disappears completely)
Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade two kinds of sales, two kinds of dresses, and two prayers. He forbade offering prayers after the Fajr prayer till the rising of the sun and after the `Asr prayer till its setting. He also forbade "Ishtimal-Assama [??] " and "al-Ihtiba" in one garment in such a way that one's private parts are exposed towards the sky. He also forbade the sales called "Munabadha" and "Mulamasa." ہم سے عبید بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے ابی اسامہ کے واسطے سے بیان کیا۔ انہوں نے عبیداللہ بن عمر سے، انہوں نے خبیب بن عبدالرحمٰن سے، انہوں نے حفص بن عاصم سے، انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو طرح کی خرید و فروخت اور دو طرح کے لباس اور دو وقتوں کی نمازوں سے منع فرمایا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز فجر کے بعد سورج نکلنے تک اور نماز عصر کے بعد غروب ہونے تک نماز پڑھنے سے منع فرمایا ( اور کپڑوں میں ) اشتمال صماء یعنی ایک کپڑا اپنے اوپر اس طرح لپیٹ لینا کہ شرمگاہ کھل جائے۔ اور ( احتباء ) یعنی ایک کپڑے میں گوٹ مار کر بیٹھنے سے منع فرمایا۔ ( اور خرید و فروخت میں ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے منابذہ اور ملامسہ سے منع فرمایا۔
