Overview
Iman (Faith) is the foundation of Islamic belief, encompassing belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree. The Prophet ﷺ defined Iman through the famous Hadith of Jibreel as believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and predestination. Authentic hadiths reveal that Iman has over sixty branches, with the highest being the testimony of faith and the lowest being removing harm from the road.
Key Lessons
Faith is not static — it increases with obedience and decreases with sin. A believer must continually renew and strengthen their Iman through dhikr, knowledge, and righteous deeds. The concept of Iman also encompasses action of the heart, tongue, and limbs.
Practical Guidance
Strengthen your faith by learning the six pillars of Iman deeply, attending Islamic circles, reading Quran daily, and making dua for firm faith (thabaat). Recite "Allahumma thabbit qalbi ala dinik" regularly. Avoid sins that weaken faith and seek repentance immediately.

Narrated Abu Bakra:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The terror caused by Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal will not enter Medina and at that time Medina will have seven gates and there will be two angels at each gate guarding them
ہم سے عبدالعزیز بن عبداللہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے ابراہیم بن سعد نے بیان کیا، ان سے ان کے والد نے، ان سے ان کے دادا نے اور ان سے ابوبکرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا مدینہ پر دجال کا رعب بھی نہیں پڑے گا اس دور میں مدینہ کے سات دروازے ہوں گے اور ہر دروازے پر دو فرشتے ہوں گے۔
Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "There are angels guarding the entrances (or roads) of Medina, neither plague nor Ad-Dajjal will be able to enter it
ہم سے اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے سے امام مالک نے بیان کیا، ان سے نعیم بن عبداللہ المجمر نے بیان کیا اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ مدینہ کے راستوں پر فرشتے ہیں نہ اس میں طاعون آ سکتا ہے نہ دجال۔
Narrated Anas bin Malik:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There will be no town which Ad-Dajjal will not enter except Mecca and Medina, and there will be no entrance (road) (of both Mecca and Medina) but the angels will be standing in rows guarding it against him, and then Medina will shake with its inhabitants thrice (i.e. three earthquakes will take place) and Allah will expel all the non-believers and the hypocrites from it
ہم سے ابراہیم بن المنذر نے بیان کیا، ان سے ولید نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوعمرو اوزاعی نے بیان کیا، ان سے اسحٰق نے بیان کیا، ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کوئی ایسا شہر نہیں ملے گا جسے دجال پامال نہ کرے گا، سوائے مکہ اور مدینہ کے، ان کے ہر راستے پر صف بستہ فرشتے کھڑے ہوں گے جو ان کی حفاظت کریں گے پھر مدینہ کی زمین تین مرتبہ کانپے گی جس سے ایک ایک کافر اور منافق کو اللہ تعالیٰ اس میں سے باہر کر دے گا۔
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told us a long narrative about Ad-Dajjal, and among the many things he mentioned, was his saying, "Ad-Dajjal will come and it will be forbidden for him to pass through the entrances of Medina. He will land in some of the salty barren areas (outside) Medina; on that day the best man or one of the best men will come up to him and say, 'I testify that you are the same Dajjal whose description was given to us by Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) .' Ad-Dajjal will say to the people, 'If I kill this man and bring him back to life again, will you doubt my claim?' They will say, 'No.' Then Ad-Dajjal will kill that man and bring him back to life. That man will say, 'Now I know your reality better than before.' Ad-Dajjal will say, 'I want to kill him but I cannot
ہم سے یحییٰ بن بکیر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے لیث بن سعد نے بیان کیا، ان سے عقیل نے، ان سے ابن شہاب نے، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ مجھے عبیداللہ بن عتبہ نے خبر دی کہ ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ ہم سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دجال کے متعلق ایک لمبی حدیث بیان کی، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی حدیث میں یہ بھی فرمایا تھا کہ دجال مدینہ کی ایک کھاری شور زمین تک پہنچے گا اس پر مدینہ میں داخلہ تو حرام ہو گا۔ ( مدینہ سے ) اس دن ایک شخص اس کی طرف نکل کر بڑھے گا، یہ لوگوں میں ایک بہترین نیک مرد ہو گا یا ( یہ فرمایا کہ ) بزرگ ترین لوگوں میں سے ہو گا وہ شخص کہے گا کہ میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ تو وہی دجال ہے جس کے متعلق ہمیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اطلاع دی تھی دجال کہے گا کیا میں اسے قتل کر کے پھر زندہ کر ڈالوں تو تم لوگوں کو میرے معاملہ میں کوئی شبہ رہ جائے گا؟ اس کے حواری کہیں گے نہیں، چنانچہ دجال انہیں قتل کر کے پھر زندہ کر دے گا۔ جب دجال انہیں زندہ کر دے گا تو وہ بندہ کہے گا بخدا اب تو مجھ کو پورا حال معلوم ہو گیا کہ تو ہی دجال ہے دجال کہے گا لاؤ اسے پھر قتل کر دوں لیکن اس مرتبہ وہ قابو نہ پا سکے گا۔
Narrated Jabir:A bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and gave a pledge of allegiance for embracing Islam. The next day he came with fever and said (to the Prophet (ﷺ) ), "Please cancel my pledge (of embracing Islam and of emigrating to Medina)." The Prophet (ﷺ) refused (that request) three times and said, "Medina is like a furnace, it expels out the impurities (bad persons) and selects the good ones and makes them perfect
ہم سے عمرو بن عباس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا، ان سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، ان سے محمد بن منکدر نے اور ان سے جابر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ ایک اعرابی نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر اسلام پر بیعت کی، دوسرے دن آیا تو اسے بخار چڑھا ہوا تھا کہنے لگا کہ میری بیعت توڑ دیجئیے! تین بار اس نے یہی کہا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انکار کیا پھر فرمایا کہ مدینہ کی مثال بھٹی کی سی ہے کہ میل کچیل کو دور کر کے خالص جوہر کو نکھار دیتی ہے۔
Narrated Zaid bin Thabit:When the Prophet (ﷺ) went out for (the battle of) Uhud, some of his companions (hypocrites) returned (home). A party of the believers remarked that they would kill those (hypocrites) who had returned, but another party said that they would not kill them. So, this Divine Inspiration was revealed: "Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties concerning the hypocrites." ہم سے سلیمان بن حرب نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے عدی بن ثابت نے، ان سے عبداللہ بن یزید نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، آپ فرما رہے تھے کہ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جنگ احد کے لیے نکلے تو جو لوگ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے ان میں سے کچھ لوگ واپس آ گئے ( یہ منافقین تھے ) پھر بعض نے تو یہ کہا کہ ہم چل کر انہیں قتل کر دیں گے اور ایک جماعت نے کہا کہ قتل نہ کرنا چاہئے اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی «فما لكم في المنافقين فئتين» اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ مدینہ ( برے ) لوگوں کو اس طرح دور کر دیتا ہے جس طرح آگ میل کچیل دور کر دیتی ہے۔
Narrated Anas:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Allah! Bestow on Medina twice the blessings You bestowed on Mecca
ہم سے عبداللہ بن محمد مسندی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے وہب بن جریر نے بیان کیا، ان سے ان کے والد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے یونس بن شہاب سے سنا اور انہوں نے انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کے اے اللہ! جتنی مکہ میں برکت عطا فرمائی ہے مدینہ میں اس سے دگنی برکت کر۔ جریر کے ساتھ اس روایت کی متابعت عثمان بن عمر نے یونس کے واسطہ کے ساتھ کی ہے۔
Narrated Anas:Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) returned from a journey and observed the walls of Medina, he would make his Mount go fast, and if he was on an animal (i.e. a horse), he would make it gallop because of his love for Medina
ہم سے قتیبہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اسماعیل بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، ان سے حمید نے اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب کبھی سفر سے واپس آتے اور مدینہ کی دیواروں کو دیکھتے تو اپنی سواری تیز فرما دیتے اور اگر کسی جانور کی پشت پر ہوتے تو مدینہ کی محبت میں اسے ایڑ لگاتے۔
Narrated Anas:(The people of) Bani Salama intended to shift near the mosque (of the Prophet) but Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) disliked to see Medina vacated and said, "O the people of Bani Salama! Don't you think that you will be rewarded for your footsteps which you take towards the mosque?" So, they stayed at their old places
ہم سے محمد بن سلام بیکندی نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہمیں مروان بن معاویہ فزاری نے خبر دی، انہیں حمید طویل نے خبر دی اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ بنو سلمہ نے چاہا کہ اپنے دور والے مکانات چھوڑ کر مسجد نبوی سے قریب اقامت اختیار کر لیں لیکن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ پسند نہ کیا کہ مدینہ کے کسی حصہ سے بھی رہائش ترک کی جائے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اے بنو سلمہ! تم اپنے قدموں کا ثواب نہیں چاہتے، چنانچہ بنو سلمہ نے ( اپنی اصلی اقامت گاہ میں ) رہائش باقی رکھی۔
Narrated Abu Huraira:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There is a garden from the gardens of Paradise between my house and my pulpit, and my pulpit is on my Lake Fount (Al-Kauthar)
ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، ان سے یحییٰ قطان نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبیداللہ بن عمر نے بیان کیا کہ مجھ سے خبیب بن عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا، ان سے حفص بن عاصم نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا میرے گھر اور میرے منبر کے درمیان ( والی جگہ ) جنت کے باغوں میں سے ایک باغ ہے اور میرا منبر قیامت کے دن میرے حوض ( کوثر ) پر ہو گا۔
