بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ ﴿1﴾ قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ﴿2﴾ نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا ﴿3﴾ أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا ﴿4﴾ إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًۭا ثَقِيلًا ﴿5﴾ إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًۭٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا ﴿6﴾ إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًۭا طَوِيلًۭا ﴿7﴾ وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا ﴿8﴾ رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا ﴿9﴾ وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا ﴿10﴾ وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا ﴿11﴾ إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًۭا وَجَحِيمًۭا ﴿12﴾ وَطَعَامًۭا ذَا غُصَّةٍۢ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا ﴿13﴾ يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا ﴿14﴾ إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًۭا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا ﴿15﴾ فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ أَخْذًۭا وَبِيلًۭا ﴿16﴾ فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًۭا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا ﴿17﴾ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا ﴿18﴾ إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا ﴿19﴾ ۞ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًۭا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًۭا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۢ ﴿20﴾

Overview

Surah Al-Muzzammil is one of the most profound Surahs of the Quran. Being a Meccan Surah with 20 verses, it deeply addresses matters of faith, the Hereafter, and divine wisdom. Reciting it brings immense spiritual benefits and strengthens one's connection with Allah.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ

Urdu Translation

اے (محمدﷺ) جو کپڑے میں لپٹ رہے ہو

English Translation

O you who wraps himself [in clothing],

2
قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا

Urdu Translation

رات کو قیام کیا کرو مگر تھوڑی سی رات

English Translation

Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little -

3
نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا

Urdu Translation

(قیام) آدھی رات (کیا کرو)

English Translation

Half of it - or subtract from it a little

4
أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا

Urdu Translation

یا اس سے کچھ کم یا کچھ زیادہ اور قرآن کو ٹھہر ٹھہر کر پڑھا کرو

English Translation

Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation.

إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًۭا ثَقِيلًا

Urdu Translation

ہم عنقریب تم پر ایک بھاری فرمان نازل کریں گے

English Translation

Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.

إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًۭٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا

Urdu Translation

کچھ شک نہیں کہ رات کا اٹھنا (نفس بہیمی) کو سخت پامال کرتا ہے اور اس وقت ذکر بھی خوب درست ہوتا ہے

English Translation

Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words.

إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًۭا طَوِيلًۭا

Urdu Translation

دن کے وقت تو تمہیں اور بہت سے شغل ہوتے ہیں

English Translation

Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.

8
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا

Urdu Translation

تو اپنے پروردگار کے نام کا ذکر کرو اور ہر طرف سے بےتعلق ہو کر اسی کی طرف متوجہ ہوجاؤ

English Translation

And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.

رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا

Urdu Translation

مشرق اور مغرب کا مالک (ہے اور) اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں تو اسی کو اپنا کارساز بناؤ

English Translation

[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.

10
وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا

Urdu Translation

اور جو جو (دل آزار) باتیں یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں ان کو سہتے رہو اور اچھے طریق سے ان سے کنارہ کش رہو

English Translation

And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.

11
وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا

Urdu Translation

اور مجھے ان جھٹلانے والوں سے جو دولتمند ہیں سمجھ لینے دو اور ان کو تھوڑی سی مہلت دے دو

English Translation

And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.

إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًۭا وَجَحِيمًۭا

Urdu Translation

کچھ شک نہیں کہ ہمارے پاس بیڑیاں ہیں اور بھڑکتی ہوئی آگ ہے

English Translation

Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire

13
وَطَعَامًۭا ذَا غُصَّةٍۢ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا

Urdu Translation

اور گلوگیر کھانا ہے اور درد دینے والا عذاب (بھی) ہے

English Translation

And food that chokes and a painful punishment -

14
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا

Urdu Translation

جس دن زمین اور پہاڑ کانپنے لگیں اور پہاڑ ایسے بھر بھرے (گویا) ریت کے ٹیلے ہوجائیں

English Translation

On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.

15
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًۭا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا

Urdu Translation

(اے اہل مکہ) جس طرح ہم نے فرعون کے پاس (موسیٰ کو) پیغمبر (بنا کر) بھیجا تھا (اسی طرح) تمہارے پاس بھی (محمدﷺ) رسول بھیجے ہیں جو تمہارے مقابلے میں گواہ ہوں گے

English Translation

Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.

16
فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ أَخْذًۭا وَبِيلًۭا

Urdu Translation

سو فرعون نے (ہمارے) پیغمبر کا کہا نہ مانا تو ہم نے اس کو بڑے وبال میں پکڑ لیا

English Translation

But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

17
فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًۭا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا

Urdu Translation

اگر تم بھی (ان پیغمبروں کو) نہ مانو گے تو اس دن سے کیونکر بچو گے جو بچّوں کو بوڑھا کر دے گا

English Translation

Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired?

18
ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا

Urdu Translation

(اور) جس سے آسمان پھٹ جائے گا۔ یہ اس کا وعدہ (پورا) ہو کر رہے گا

English Translation

The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled.

19
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌۭ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا

Urdu Translation

یہ (قرآن) تو نصیحت ہے۔ سو جو چاہے اپنے پروردگار تک (پہنچنے کا) رستہ اختیار کرلے

English Translation

Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way.

20
۞ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًۭا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًۭا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۢ

Urdu Translation

تمہارا پروردگار خوب جانتا ہے کہ تم اور تمہارے ساتھ کے لوگ (کبھی) دو تہائی رات کے قریب اور (کبھی) آدھی رات اور (کبھی) تہائی رات قیام کیا کرتے ہو۔ اور خدا تو رات اور دن کا اندازہ رکھتا ہے۔ اس نے معلوم کیا کہ تم اس کو نباہ نہ سکو گے تو اس نے تم پر مہربانی کی۔ پس جتنا آسانی سے ہوسکے (اتنا) قرآن پڑھ لیا کرو۔ اس نے جانا کہ تم میں بعض بیمار بھی ہوتے ہیں اور بعض خدا کے فضل (یعنی معاش) کی تلاش میں ملک میں سفر کرتے ہیں اور بعض خدا کی راہ میں لڑتے ہیں۔ تو جتنا آسانی سے ہوسکے اتنا پڑھ لیا کرو۔ اور نماز پڑھتے رہو اور زکوٰة ادا کرتے رہو اور خدا کو نیک (اور خلوص نیت سے) قرض دیتے رہو۔ اور جو عمل نیک تم اپنے لئے آگے بھیجو گے اس کو خدا کے ہاں بہتر اور صلے میں بزرگ تر پاؤ گے۔ اور خدا سے بخشش مانگتے رہو۔ بےشک خدا بخشنے والا مہربان ہے

English Translation

Indeed, your Lord knows, [O Muhammad], that you stand [in prayer] almost two thirds of the night or half of it or a third of it, and [so do] a group of those with you. And Allah determines [the extent of] the night and the day. He has known that you [Muslims] will not be able to do it and has turned to you in forgiveness, so recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur'an. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill and others traveling throughout the land seeking [something] of the bounty of Allah and others fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
