Dua for Iftar (Breaking Fast)
اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni laka sumtu, wa bika aamantu, wa 'alayka tawakkaltu, wa 'ala rizqika aftartu.
Translation: O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I put my trust in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance.
Sunnah of Breaking the Fast
It is highly recommended to break the fast immediately after the sun has set (Maghrib time) without delay. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast." (Sahih Bukhari).
The Sunnah is to break the fast with fresh dates, or dry dates, or water, before praying Maghrib.
